How to Convert PDF to Word or Excel

26 Dec 2025 Uneek PDF Team

Sometimes you need to edit PDF content in Word or Excel. This guide explains how to convert PDFs to editable formats.

Use Adobe Acrobat Pro’s “Export PDF” tool: open the PDF, go to Tools > Export PDF, and choose Word or Excel as the output format. For free options, use online converters like Smallpdf or ILovePDF. Our tools don’t currently offer PDF-to-Word conversion, but you can use LibreOffice Draw or Microsoft Word’s “Open PDF” feature. Ensure the PDF is text-based (not scanned) for better results. For scanned PDFs, use OCR first. After conversion, review the document for formatting issues: tables may shift, and images may need repositioning. For complex layouts, manual adjustments may be necessary. If the PDF has password protection, unlock it before conversion. For batch conversion, use desktop software or scripts. Remember, some elements (like interactive forms or multimedia) may not convert perfectly. Always keep the original PDF as a backup. Converting to Word or Excel is useful for editing reports, extracting data, or reusing content. For sensitive documents, use offline tools to protect privacy. If the conversion fails, try adjusting settings or using a different tool.
